FOSDEM 26 opening talk at the ULB

Last January we had the pleasure of attending our first FOSDEM. We had the chance to listen to fantastic talks, meet lots of interesting folks and enjoy the Belgian gastronomy.

This time we're doing all that once again but adding a talk: IronCalc will be on stage in the FOSS Office Software and Suites devroom in Brussels on January 30, 2027 (exact time to be confirmed).

We'll be sharing the room with some great company: LibreOffice, Collabora Office, Nextcloud Office, Grist and Inkscape. But there are still slots to fill, so we're inviting you to join us on stage! Take a look at the info below.

Who it's for

Basically anyone working on free and open source office software: spreadsheets, word processors, presentation tools, file format libraries, collaboration backends... It's not tied to one project. Competing suites are explicitly welcome, so this is a good chance to share what you've learned building yours.

Be aware that product pitches won't make it in. The devroom is about technical topics like data structures, algorithms, file formats, real-time collaboration, accessibility and security.

Details

  • Talks will last 15 or 20 minutes, and they'll be both recorded and streamed.
  • Submit at fosdem.org/submit and pick the FOSS Office track.
  • You'll need a title, a short abstract, a bio and a photo.
  • The deadline is November 30, 2026, 23:59 UTC. You'll know if your talk is accepted on December 4.

The full call, with the list of topics and the organisers' contacts, is on The Document Foundation's blog.

Whether you have something to share or just want to watch, you'll be welcome! We'll bring stickers again.

If you are unsure about submitting and want a second pair of eyes on your abstract, we're here!
